BA pipe/bulkhead size conundrum

Starting to plumb my 190.

Tank comes with 3 1" bulkheads n 2 3/4".

Sump comes with 3 1.5" bulkheads.

I'm planning on running 1.25" from overflow bulkheads to sump. Do I run 1" or 1.25" in the overflow box?

Return will be 3/4" the whole way.

TIA

Vincent

I have 5 bulkheads. All 1". Two of them are returns with 1" pvc and reduced to ¾" locline without a single issue.

On the other three I have 1.5" drains appreciating a bean animal system and working flawlessly.

To answer your question no. It isn't an issue at all. Just make sure you have appropriate reducers and glue them well so then don't leak etc.

I would just use 1" inside the overflow box so u don't have to have any bushings or reducers inside the overflow. Why don't u plumb with 1.5" instead of 1.25" so u only have to use a reducer at the bulkhead instead of having 3 different sizes. Also, u will have a lot more options on fittings & valves in 1.5" instead of 1.25".

Your bulkhead size will determine how much flow the syphon can handle but by upsizing the pvc your open channel will be able to handle a little more flow & flunctuation in the system & remain quiet.
