I'm excited like a 6 year old before Christmass.:bounce3::dance:
Wen't downstairs to do some daily maintenance this afternoon . Last week I upgraded the sea horse tank from a 35 gallon to a 75 integrated into the system;so, I make a point of looking at them( there are seven ;3 are very young adults, obviously sexually mature, and 4 are juveniles) for a while first thing. I was also planning on upgrading the aquascaping with some new artifical corals for color,today so lingerd there visualizing where I would put which pieces .
Then I saw it;wow,a swarm of 1/4 inch babies .
My wife Jennifer loves the seahorses ,so I called out ot her so she could see them. My grandson will enjoy seeing them too.
I don't know how many there are ; I'd guess 40 to a hundred. They were not near the overflow and I was able to quickly siphon them out into a salt bucket ; I think I got them all. Then transferred them by gently cupping them out of the bucket and moving them with small cups of water to into my kriesel current fish bowl which I clamped into the tank. It has a fine mesh coverd 3 inch hole in the side so it exchanges water and a an air hose attachment along the side to create a krisel current to keep the fry off the surface..Added a small amount of chaeto for hitching posts and drove off to ARC.
Randy , Chris and Josh were great. Got some live rotifers ,fresh brine shrimp eggs,selcon and a refresher on atremia hatching methods.
Got home , fed them some rotifers. They were snapping them up from their hitching spots on the chaeto. Spent some time digging out my diy brine shrimp hatchery and got a batch going for tommorow's feeding.
I hope to have time to get some ok pictures tomorrow and will add them to the post.
