Baby Banghaii

I was looking in my tank and to my surprise I saw an itty, bitty baby banghaii cardinal swimming at the bottom. I immediatly shut off the mp40's. I caught this lil' shaver and placed him in a little netted thingy that can be hooked onto the tank rim. I searched the tank for others- had not seen any. I'm sure that the crabs & shrimps have found more! Do these little guys make it? The parents 'live' in the live rock. They are harder to get at than clownfish IMO. I will continue looking for more. Off to the store to get some baby brine for him.

Well I am at 6 now. I can see the lil shavers in Papa's mouth. Every once in awhile he will stretch his mouth open a little . I went scrounging in my 'store'of long forgottens and found a much better nursery for them. I was lucky to have had some fine mesh screening that I got at AT awhile back. So I rubberbanded it over the holes on the side and hooked up a very small circ pump to the other opening and dialed down the flow. The other contraption I had- well the cleaner shrimp and snails were making a B-line for the opening. These little ones are just 2 cute! I tried to get a picture of them:

Talk to Laskopyre about feeding the babies. I just gave him some stuff that may be good to feed.

Congratulations

Well had 1 croak, found another 1 swimming precariously close to the sally lightfoot hideout. So I got it and stuck it in the holding tank. So far I have 8. They are swimming around well. I was soooooooooo glad I found this acryllic box that adheres to the tank w/suction cups. It even has a sliding top. Those cleaner shrimps keep trying to get at them. So for now, they are safe. They are under the light canopy were they do not get any direct light, to lessen any chance of sudden fright syndrome. Until I can get the powdered cyclopeese, I feed them frozen baby brine, freezedried phytoplankton and will add Selcon to their formula.. They are very aggressive feeders.

Thanx for the offer Joe. When I get the Big Daddy - I'll do it the old fashioned way- alot of nets in the water. As for the babies- They are in a cadillac of acryllic containers- They have everything' cept a tv in there- Got running water, food & mood lighting

When I couldn't catch my clowns to treat them at one time, the wife had luck at night with the lights off and the moonlights on ....sometimes you can shine a burst of light from a flashlight to freeze them for a second while you net them.

Well so far I have 9. They are all swimming about in the little box. They are vigorous feeders. I have seen the parents feeding- So it is my assumption that dad has emptied his mouth of babies. So now I need to try and get dad and give him a rest.

Well I am @ 7. They are vigorous and doing well. I got alot of flack from my grand-daughter when I told her that I fed the dead ones to the duncans. She was already to conduct an outdoor funeral. They were buried at sea.

:sad1::sad1:Boo Hoo. Just have 1 left.Somehow the lid slid forward a little and with the water level up at the top of the box, well some of the little shavers escaped. No wheres to be found. It almost looked like the SallyLightfoots were patting their tummies tho this morning. Well I do know now what to do for the next round. I guess thats why they have so darn many babies to begin with.
The suction cups could stand to replaced. I had to hunt for some that would fit into the slots to stick it on the glass.

Such a bittersweet experinence
