Baby clams on sand

Is it O.K to put baby clams on the sand or would they be better of on the rocks.
If it matters i have a 150w HQI 10k w/ 2x 65 PCs(actinic)
does it depend what kinda clam it is?
Do some move around more than others?

I put all my clams on the sand except for most of my Maxima's....they love to be on rock!!!!!!My big crocea actually has burrowed his foot through my 3in. sand and his foot is totally atatched to the bottom of the glass.
