Baby clowns!

You're welcome, Mario. I think they will like your tank!

Chalowolf - I don't have room for a large operation. Nor, really, the time -- work keeps me quite busy. The baby clowns were a spontaneous decision anyway, after many failures with YWG< I wanted something that would live ;)

wow, they grow fast. Then again, all they do is eat (and eat and eat and eat) and play around in the tank. These fish are great, they aren't afraid of anything and is very active.

Still not hosting in my xenia or frogspawn though. Maybe they're still a bit young.

I have more misbars ready to go!

At this time, all the non-misbars that are ready to go or almost ready are spoken for.

Nicole, they are doing great, happy and have eaten up a storm already. My Boys love them!!!!!

Thanks again!

I emailed you back, Seng. I'll see you tomorrow, just let me know when so I am ure to be home then.

Bryan - Glad they are settling in so well! They are such little pigs at this age; they always act like they haven't been fed in WEEKS!

I think I'm booked solid tomorrow. Maybe late in the evening? Shoot me an email with your number and I will call you if I think I will be around at any point.

i have a true percula... i dont know if its a female or male? how do you tell? and if i put this in.. will anything happen?

If the true perc is mature and has been alone for a while, it's female. Otherwise it's male or unsexed.

Clownfish sexing: juvenile/unsexed -> male -> female
Can't go backwards; can only have one male and one female in a group at a time; female is the most dominant and male is second. In captivity, you can only keep two since eventually the juvenile(s) will try to climb the ladder and someone will get killed or will jump out, since the "loser" has nowhere to run away to.

If you add a juvenile, the larger (I assume) A. percula will become the female and the juvenile will become the male, eventually forming a mated pair. With good care, they will eventually start spawning.

Mixed pairs are fairly common in captivity, and the fish don't care they aren't the same species.

NicoleC

My pair of pink skunk clowns just laid their first set of eggs. I was wondering if you could give my a little info on your setup and where you get your food for your newly hatched clowns. I'm not going to be ready for this batch, plus they laid them on a 2.5'x1' plate rock, but want to try the next set. That is if I can get them to lay them on something I could easily remove.

Thanks
Robert

I suggest starting a new thread in the breeding forum... smarter folks than me will chime in. :) I'd let you come by to look, but I am mostly broken down right now.

I also suggest the book "Clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson. It gives ste-by-step instructions and pictures of how to set up the larval and growout tanks.

Yesturday I went to Hugo's store (snipersps) and told him about the clowns. The first thing he said was ask nicole.
I'll try the breeder forum.

Thanks
Robert

LOL! Maybe I should have sold the clowns to Hugo :)

Get the book. It's not deep and scientific, but it does cover the basics and gets you to the point where you know which questions you still need answers to.
