Hey all, getting back in the reef tank game and am putting in a 90RR tank in my house. Where I am installing it I have direct drop access to the basement and while its prob more plumbing than needed I would like to drop everything down into the basement and setup a nice bench with everything on it(reduce noise, heat and whatnot in the house). Here are a couple of my concerns and questions I have that I hope people can help with.
1 - The section of basement I would drop into is the old 1880 granite block section, and while there is nothing technically wrong with that it is often cobwebby and overall blah. I could certainly spend some time cleaning it up and prepping it, my concern is having a Sump/Fuge down there with an open top. Not that there is a ton of random air born crap floating around, it is still an old school dank basement type area, any concerns with this?
2. Being I have the ability to drop to the basement I could run a much larger sump/fuge setup than I would under tank. I would like to minimize maintenance and water changes as much as possible so what would people recommend for a sump/fuge setup and size? A single tank like a 55 gal sectioned into a skimmer area, fuge area and sump area? A couple smaller tanks separating out the fuge and sump? Or something like one those big Rubbermaid tubs emptying into a fuge of some sort? I have ample room to work with and like I said would love to minimize water changes (and by minimize mean get down to a monthly change over a weekly or biweekly).
Those are my starting questions, thanks in advance for any advice and help!
