Backup power for 24g Aquapod?

Well...Ike looks like it will hit Florida and I am of course worried about losing power which won't be good. I was wondering what do you have as a backup power source besides a generator?

My tank is a 24 gallon aquapod running a 150 hqi with 2 pumps. A generator is not out of the question but would like to know what my options are before shelling out lots of cash on one.

I have a UPS on my dart return pump, but that will last only about 3 hours. The best insurance is a generator. You can get a small one from pep boys in the 250-300 range.

with my setup I use a 2200 VA UPS's. I use them just to run a Koralia for water movement. Did a test run and I get 8 hours on it. Becareful about cheap UPS's. If it is not a higher end model pumps will not work on it.

Basically a power supply with a battery. Can come in handy if there are only a few hours between power outages. Will need a generator if it is longer than that.

You could go with the old fashioned Double D battery operated air bubbler. I used one of those for about 8hrs on my old 29g reef when charley hit.

I have a 1000 watt DC inverter with 2 marine deep cycle batteries. The batteries will run the main pump for about 8-10 hours each.
Or the maxi jets alone for a couple days. I also have a Honda EU 3000 generator that I use to power the fridge, lights, fans etc.
It has a separate 12 volt DC winding to keep the batteries charged as they run out. If needed I can plug in one of the MH's to give a couple hours of light.

Fortunately our power has only gone out for a couple of hours, so I've never really had to test the rigs capacity.
