LOAD / POWER SUPPLY WATTAGE = VA USED PER HOUR

The Mag-12 draws 115v x 1.5amps per hour, which equates to a load of 172.5va per hour. With the Opti-UPS being 1500va, this provides me with an estimated 8.69 hours of power. These calculations do not take into account battery decay, so it's a good idea to consider a loss of up to 2 hours, to be absolutely safe. This results in 6.5 hours of solid power.

The reason I run my return pump, is primarily to keep the sump/fuge from overflowing!

If your sump overflows without power, you *REALLY* need to address that. Things happen, even with a UPS/Generator/Solarpower/PocketNuclearReactor power backups.

I don;t know how your tank is plumbed, but there are many VERY simple ways to prevent your sump from overflowing.

The sump baffles are just a wee bit too high, so it can't quite contain the excess...

Next time I tear everything down, it will be properly addressed!

The baffles in the sump are too high and that makes it flood? So by lowering the baffles, the sump would hold all of the water?

If I read that right, what you could do without tearing anything down is to drill some holes in the top of the baffle with a cordless drill. I have about 20 holdes drilled near the top of one of my baffles, it helps lower the level of the water held behind that baffle.

Now I use a generator. and a small ups to give me time to get to the generator. I might look into that one on ebay. Do you know how many amps it can provide.

Hehehe... Having been a "Katrina victim" w/o power for 30+ days, I now live in Arkansas with a pretty stable grid. We have however had an onslaught of killer storms lately, but the power hasn't been off for more than 30 minutes at the most (it's the first 3 minutes that I worry about).

Also, being that the areas primary sub-station is 1/4m down our street, and the water pumping station is directly across from my driveway, we get a great response when something goes off.

We had a Flying Squirrel gnaw on a wire a blow the transformer in our yard one night, and since it's the same transformer that feeds the water pumping station, it was fixed and back online in less than 20 minutes, during a massive storm.

well i just bought one. I hope I get the one you got. That would be sweet. BTW did you look anywhere else at the price of these guys. I saw the lower model for 6 something on a web site and went to hit buy it now.

I think my Rio pump is dying. I hear it grind every few minutes. Of to rescue the tank.........

I {GOOGLED} the 1440va unit and found most "discount stores" to be over $400 if they had them, and the average to be $470 when in stock.

That's why I didn't screw around, and also hit the Buy-It-Now button!

I wanted a generator for my bacony... but my condo said absolutely NOT! Something about burning the building down... can you believe that... LOL

In case of a long term power outage... like during hurricane Wilma, I've got a battery charger in my office at the hospital where I can re-charge my marine batteries. Thank God for my job!!!

Well I got my UPS today. Mine too is alos the wrong one but instead of yours beeing upgraded mine was downgraded. They say they are out of the ps series and want more money now for a nicer model only 130 more.

I hope they hook it up or something I don't want to spend over 300 on this. They have had great communication so far so I am not worried. If I have to wait I have to wait.

i received my smart ups from apc. even though its reconditioned (they install new batteries) this thing is in mint shape. i opened up the case and theres not much sign of ever being used. one small scratch on the side. great $79.00 investment for a true sine wave power supply.
