Backup power

What are the power requirements of the ACIII's backup power jack? How many mA of current does it need? Does the backlight illuminate when running on backup power? All this should be in the manual but isn't.

The backup battery power requirements are the same as main power jack. 200mA, 9V DC, 3.5 mm phono jack, tip positive (see AquaController AC adapter). No, the backlight is off when run off of backup power.

What exactly is the benefit of running the controller off backup power if all of the things it is controlling will be off? Unless you have a DC plugged into a UPS?

email alerts that the power went out and data logging of power outages. Although you will need to plug you router and DSL or cable modem into a UPS along with the backup power AC adapter to recieve email, I don't know if the DSL equipment at the central office will stay live to get that email out. Any thoughts?
