Bad Brine Shrimp Eggs

SWINGRRRR

I found an old vile of BSE in my garage. I bought these a couple of years ago, made 1 batch, put it in my garage and forgot about it. When I found it the other day, I figured hey, why not, Id hatch some again just for fun. Well Ive tried 3 different batches, and none have hatched. The last batch I decapsulated and they still do not hatch. While researching, I saw on BSD, that they say not to let O2 get into the eggs.

Does O2 make the eggs go bad? Should I just decapsulate what I have left and feed the eggs?

the instructions on my batch say to keep moisture out and keep the temp under 40 degrees.

I would imagine in your garage the temps are higher than 40 and probably just all went bad.

Between the temps and humidity in Fl, it's not surprising for a vial of eggs in a garage not to last long. They are probably still fine as food once decapsulated, just not viable for producing live nauplii.

Thanks for the input. I think Ill decap them this weekend and feed them. Ill just buy a new set and start all over after that.
