Bad light led fixture on Orbits

I bought about 14 months back a, "36" Orbit 2x96 watt SunPaq w/ Lunar Light"
The problem... The leds are getting weaker/dim. From the email I got back from Premium Aquatics this is what they said,

Hi Jeff,
Sorry to hear about the light fixture. We have heard of very few problems with this brand overall. I know I've ordered replacement LEDs once for a customer. They only have 1 year warranty, but I would contact Current-usa.com and see if they can trouble shoot the problem for you. (Current-use stated its the LED transformer.)
If they authorize a free replacement, we can get the part for you. (only if i'm under 1year) We just need the part number on the replacement part and if it's not covered, we can find a price on it. Usually there replacement parts are pretty inexpensive.

Thank You,

Jason Frey

Hi Jeff,

My problem is they will only get the part if I'm covered under the 1 year. To which going on 14 months.

What a freaking joke, anything for a buck!! $35 with out shipping.

Just out of curiousity where do you live? Because I live on Earth. And on Earth we have warranties. Companies don't put life time guarentees on stuff(well, very few do). Whats wrong with there being a year warranty? That email even mentions that the parts are usually pretty inexpensive. Don't see the problem. A year is pretty good. A lot of companies give 6 months. Also, be thankful that the LED's are replaceable.

wow words from management...
Nice, well the truth is there is a problem with this item that they pointed out and are known of. From this they should have a fix for it. So knowing that there is a problem with the transformer causing the led's to dim less them a few years THAT IS A PROBLEM. Now does this also mean the Main transformer might have the same problem?

Companies also stand by there product. Give it less than a few years and me spending over $1,200 that same year you would think on returning the fav...

Maybe you should reread this again. As I stated (they know about the problem and still want to charge)
If you (Milhouse) have known about this problem with the transformer would you buy this fixture?

Oh and please keep in mind that when you take an electronic gadget apart to which tells you to not open or change it does effect the warranty. However in this case the warranty ran out.

LOL, sorry if it came out a little harsh, but seriously man. They never said it's a "known problem". You described the problem and they know what is causing it. If I had a bulb flicker and they said "you have a bad ballast" does that mean it's a known problem? No, it means I have a bad ballast. Perhaps you should reread your own email from PA. They said they've ordered a replacement ONCE before. They also said that they rarely have problems with this brand. Sounds to me like you got the one in a million bad LED. Not a known problem at all. Honda's are great cars, but that doesn't mean they are immune to problems. I've owned a couple of Honda's and I've had problems. Perhaps you should find out how much they are charging for the LED before making this thread. If they come back and say $5 I don't think you'll be nearly as upset.

And yes I am in management. I manage a large department store. Do you know how often I hear...."I've had these shoes for 6 months, I don't think they are wearing right". Everyone wants to pay a little and expect it to last a lifetime.

Milhouse,

I have stated the price up there....
There wanting $35 to fix a probelm that they know to be a common problem.
Call for your self. Current-USA Customer Service told me in email and phone "we have had problems with this fixture's LED's transformer"
The person from PA said he recalls ordering a replacement. (does not mean no other sales rep did)
And the cost for the transformer is $35 with out shipping as I stated in the first post...

If this was really $5 I would have never made this thread.

well i have an orbit fixture also... 4X65 watt w/ 4 moon lights.

I run the moonlights 24/7 for the last 3 years, and they look like the day i bought them... when they did look dim, i noticed alot of dust on the led's... I gave it a quick wipe, and like new.

I contacted Orbit before, because i wanted to change the white led's to blue... very helpful in the email, They even suggested other stores other than their own so i would save on shipping and taxes.

Google current-usa and go to their website, they offer a replacement parts page.

and dont get upset with others reply's everyone has an opinion, and when we post on here, we are opening ourselves to their opinions.

Milhouse is mearly trying to get you to see his point of view. not a biggee.

anyways, its an easy fix if you know how to , or know someone that sodders. very easy fix, on a very reliable piece of equipment (at least to me)

It was just the point of it nw2rfing. Glad to see your light is working well.
Everyones opinion is welcome I mean its online chat. However when you get people that do not read the post it just kind of creates a mess. Why apologize after words about what you said. If you are sorry than you would not have said it.

I guess than I should say oh well Milhouse thank you anyway for your response.

;)

Hmmm, that's wierd. I don't see anything in my first post that says I didn't read yours? Also, when I posted the first time you edited about the same time. That's why I never noticed anything about price. Just because you never listed anything other than the email from PA in your first reply doesn't mean I didn't read it. How was I supposed to know you called Current as well? You said that later. I still stand by what I said. They have a warranty and it still doesn't sound like a widespread problem to me. That's life! It sucks but I'm sure you will survive ;)

Over all I guess I just wanted to share my problem about a fixture.
So maybe when someone is thinking about buying 1 just to keep this in mind...

I have to agree with Milhouse. I'm sure "1 year warranty" is clearly stated somewhere in your Manual. It sucks, but thats life.

If it is a "known problem" why did you buy it in the first place?
No Offense- but,
It seems kinda dumb to buy a light with a "known problem" and then whine about having to pay to fix it.

Hello ConcreteReefer...
Please read the top post where is states, "They only have 1 year warranty, but I would contact Current-usa.com and see if they can trouble shoot the problem for you. (Current-use stated its the LED transformer.)"

So yup I did write about the warranty.
Known problem as to what I did not know before I bought it.
Your right it would be foolish to buy anything thing that has a known problem.

Thanks for your input.

Problem will be fixed.
