Bad Pinpoint pH probe

On June 29th I ordered a pH probe from MD for my new tank (web order 100295659). I finally got the tank setup recently and tried to calibrate the probe on my Pinpoint meter. Unfortunately when I tried, the meter only read like negative .45 pH and would not calibrate. Assuming the meter was bad, I purchased a used meter from another reefer. I got that meter today, plugged it in, and this meter reads like 3.65 but it still won't calibrate when I turn the screws. The only thing I can assume is that the probe is bad in some way. Does it sound like the case? If so is this something MD will replace, or am I out of luck since I ordered it back on the 29th of June?

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for your post, I'm sorry to hear that your having trouble calibrating your American Marine Probe. I have heard from fellow hobbyist that if you calibrate or take a reading anywhere near high intensity lighting ( Metal Halide) you will get an incorrect reading, it has something to do with the frequency the light gives off.
In answer to your question about a possible defective probe, American Marine is one of our vendors that prefers to handle all of their own warranties, they will trouble shoot the problem with you and be able to determine whether the probe is defective, and send you a replacement if needed. Feel free to contact Lou at American Marine at 1.800.925.4689 they will be able to further assist you
