Bad snail?

Should I lose this? What is it?

bump. I could supply a couple more pics if it would help someone I.D. it? It has a snout like a Nassarius but I don't think it burrows into the sand. I have not seen any obvious reason for concern, but I don't know! It's apprx. 1" long.

it might be a whelk snail, excuse my spelling. i would quarentine it until it's identified

What kind of damage do Whelks do?

whelks eat clams. not sure if they damage anything else.

No clams here........yet! I think I've had this snail since it was a speck! If I find it to be destructive I can easily catch it. Anyone with more info, gimme!

Dog whelk. Should have a siphon coming out the front and 2 protrusions that almost looks like whiskers as well. Like stated above they tend to like the clam, but other than that, harmless to corals and fish IME. There have been some in one of my tanks for years (with softies and fish) with no ill effect.
