 Awesome!

That appears to be the same as the "Balanophyllia" species Divers Den was selling in the links above.

I think this was around $60. The picture below is the one when I received it. The poly was very small, and does not look healthy. However, I fed it almost everyday, then got very healthy!

stunreefer,
thank you for your kind words.

happyjack,
I am sorry I got this. AquaticAuction has other this species.

I just purchased this one from aquatic auction $80, 10 heads, has been in the tank for 1 hr. It was labeled as balanophyllia.

Looks very nice bunzaroo!

I would advise you to move it further away from the elegance. In the picture it appears to be pretty close, and they will NOT get along ;) The picture might be deceiving though...

I have the pictures in my camera, I will load them up tonight. It's just hard beacuse, it begins opening up at around 12 midnight, the best time to catch it is at 2am/ 3am. Actually I purcahsed a black balano about 12-15 heads. About a week ago and that one is not opening at all. the polys just barely peek out but they wont extend. I will be doing a separate post later tonight

Heres my Balan. 4 heads(photo is from directly in front so you dont see the other 2), been 4 polyps for 2 months not showing any new growth. looks very healthy and is always open.

should note that wasnt open as often when tank was at 78-80 degrees. Got a chiller and tank runs at 72-74 degrees and "loves" the new conditions. Open all the time day and night. Nothing chnaged except temp of water. Could just be it finally settling in and feeding it during the day help at the same time.

Here's my balano's. Well, almost positive they're balanophyllia, but I have been proven wrong before...
