Ballast choice

Derek,
Do you own one?

What can you say about the quality of this product aside from the flexibility it comes with?

Technically No. I own 3 of them. (2 Dimmable 400W and 1 non-dimmamble 250W)

They are a great product and I am very happy about this ballast. i use to run m58 ballasts (magnetic) and I just got tired of being limited to certain bulbs. This ballast does not limit me what so ever.

Thanks Derek, I read the thread you began on the dimmable lumatek ballast and it sold on me on it instead of the standard electronic ballast.

Glad I could steer you in that direction. I am very happy and i think this is the BEST Ballast in the market hands down.

hi derek i'm thinking of getting 3 new lumatek dimmables.i just found the 400 watt ballast my ? is i've already bought my new 250watt se bulbs can i run these on the 400watt ballast in the hqi mode???thanks

Sorry for the basic question but I'm totally confused on the ballasts types now.
I thought there was 2 choices Electronic or magnetic but the more I read the more there is:
HQI Ballasts?
Probe start?
Pulse start?
so do elecronic and magnetic ballast both come in those 3 types too? any idea how tot tell which type a ballast is?

You can run both 250w and 400w bulbs on this ballast. Just turn the knob on what you want to run. In your case you can use the 250 setting or the 275 setting. If you choose to run the bulb on 275w you will be overdriving the bulb and can lower the life expectancy of your bulb. Do some reseach on bulb and their suggest replacement intervals. Some bulbs perform better when overdriven. Just ask or search the archives
