ballast just kicked the bucket

Anyone got a VHO ballast laying around they are not using? mine just went out and it is toast. I have no light !!! help.

Yea. ebay is ok. lots of good deals, but I need something to get me by till monday. or some reassurance that I dont lose anything. Chris at AC said I should be good. but almost 5 days wit no light. that worries me. I have an Icecap to be delivered on monday.

anyone got anything I can borrow or rent?

I think you'll be fine 5 days with no light. There are threads about people routinely leaving lights off for 3 days or more to combat algae.

oh man. sorry about that. i have two extra 400 watt MH ballasts and sockets all ready, but they are in atlanta. left em there when we moved to TN. sorry though.

but yea, i think you might be fine. if theres a window in the same room as your tank, just open it. theres a window near my tank, and the natural sunlight usually 'wakes' up the corals.

I have a PFO VHO ballast that I got from Angela that only one half works and should run 2 x 4' tubes. I only really set it up to test it out. I'm not sure what's wrong with it but I thought about trying to fix the other half. I can't really justify the work because I don't really have a use for it and I'm not sure I can fix it. If you can use it, I'm happy to give it to you... and it would be a good excuse to get that pipe frag from you. If you can get to Vandy, I can have it there tomorrow.

Lindsey- I'll call this afternoon. 4ish should be fine. The one thing I should let you know is that I've had another look at it and it looks like each part of the ballast will only fire one bulb (not two). It may be rated for more (you'd have to check), but it was set-up originally to only run one bulb from each plug.
