interested in getting a mating pair of banded coral shrimp and putting them by themselves. wanted to know if a 5g would be to small just for them, nothing else? the tanks been up for a while and i eventually want to move them to my main tank. the price is right so i thought i would get them.

My major concern in a tank that size is the ability to control the nitrates, of which shrimp (and all inverts) are pretty intolerant...

Unless it is fed from a larger system, 5 gal is a challenge.

Also, the regular Banded coral shrimp, Stenopus hispidis is WAY too big for such a small tank.
Mine has antennas that would reach 6 inches in either direction.

Stenopus tenuitostris on the other hand is very small, just over an inch, but with a blue thorax is much prettier. They hide however, so the tank has to be set up so you can se inside all the caves.
