Bangaii's

So it's been a slow go trying to find a pair of bangaii's, of course.. So I happened to find a nice healthy one eating frozen mysis. Bought that one and has been eating very well. Doesn't like anything else except the frozen mysis. So I came across another one and this one is smaller than the first. This one is a lover of frozen mysis. I finally was able to put it in the tank. Well it's been about 7 hrs and both are still alive.. I'm hoping for the best. Anything I should look for other than keep an eye on them and move the new one in case of trouble? the little one isn't backing down from the flinches it was getting and was doing right back at the bigger one. Hopefully there isn't an attack during the night. Because of the low quantity available around here its just not feasible to get a few and watch for the pairing.

Make sure there is refuge for one or the other, you may well have two of the same sex, I like 5-6 of them in a dedicated species tank, or frag tank, if keeping them all together then make sure there are plenty of urchin type refuges for fry, caves are nice too.

But for now make sure each can have a place to retrea to and feel secure. And hope that you have a pair.

IME, it's really difficult to pair banggais when you already have an established fish. A couple years ago, I went through 4 or 5 wild banggais to finally get one who got along with an established banggai I had. I was able to get the pair I currently have by watching a group of banggais at a store. My pair was staying front and center and kept all of the other banggais in the corners of the tank. A couple months later they started spawning for me.

I had my first bangaii for about a year before buying another. My first one is a female she dropped her eggs. The second I got is a male, when I first introduced him she was doing her little terratorial threat. That lasted about an hour. They are always together and I am on my third batch of babies. Good Luck.

Yeah I made the trade and the 2 seem to be getting along. But they are juvi's so down the road I will keep an eye on them
