Banggai Breeding Show Off Thread

Hi all!

I thought I'd share some photos from my Banggai breeding project and create a thread where we can share experiences, appreciation, and pics from breeding this wonderful fish. I will be posting updates on my progress.

Its been my dream to breed this fish from the moment I started the hobby. Currently I have 4 pairs of cardinals (3 are producing eggs). I am raising 2 batches of fry (2 months & 2 weeks old). Each batch had 14 fry. More info on my set up coming up!

All photos are taken by me. Please credit me, Stephen Tennyson, if you plan to share them!

Banggai Breeding Show Off Thread

Tennyson those are looking great! My male should be spitting babies out any day now. Hopefully I will be able to contribute to your thread soon!

Keep up the updates!
Here is my male carrying for the first time

OK, so my (presumed) breeding pair .... the male has recently developed that distended, lantern jaw look .... and has stopped eating or opening his mouth. Has anyone seen this behaviour, because I suspect he may be carrying babies?

I bought 2 of these fish about 10-12 months ago. I noticed about 4 months ago that one of them wasn't eating. A little research suggested they were a pair, they have been successful 4x that I know of, I found one baby in my overflow about 4 days ago, it's been there at least a week and appears to be eating flake food.

Is it common for the fry to eat flake food and will they survive on it?

Thanks
Fish

I cannot believe that this thread just stopped. I was reading through it and found it very interesting.
