Amazing setup. i can't wait to see the sump rooms becuase they look very interesting. Also extremely interested to see the completed project. what type of chiller is he going to get? what is he going to have in the various sumps and what will the set up be like inside there? so many questions, i can't wait for the finally product

I think the prefab pool is just for show...they're actually going to be doing laps in the tank!

But yeah, the pool looks a little shoddy! (sorry)

bill didn't want a high maintence pool. just something small and Easy to take care of. he will have a lot to do with he tank so maintence needs to be at a minimum for the rest of the house. the pool is also a hot tub too. it will be nice without the expense of a huge pool and hot tub. its only him and his girlfriend there. he does not plan to have big parties or anything like that. bill may have money but he doesn't just throw money away either. he has put a lot of thought into this house and the design of things. the pool didn't need to be an Olympic size pool for him. i think he will more than likely swim with the fish more than he would in the pool. ha ha ha

Perhaps he's used his allowance of cement for the fish tank and doesn't want his wife to know...

 Ha ha. ---- "Honey, I told them to pour the pool outside, NOT in the living room. Oh well, I guess I'll just turn it into a tank!"

:D

Well heck, I think I would charge admission just to see the hardware setup on this monster.... Not to mention the fish are going to have their own tornado shelter... Just an amazing build for a home

just a point on the pools - the automatic chlorine machines are crap - well the model we got. we had a lot of maintance issues for the first few years - we were told to use shock and this and that and the mustard algea problems. we switched to a floating chlorine tab bucket in the pool and stopped filling the auto dispensor and the pool has been maintance free ever since, 5 yrs plus. shock has been crap too we switched over to using raw chorline too. - sorry for the derailment.

Chlorine

Chlorine

I hope he goes with the new style salt generator filtration for the pool. They are working really well here in Arkansas.

My salt chlorinator is working flawlessly for me.
Haven't had to shock since installing it.
Best investment I've made for the pool.

i dont know what is going on there with the pool. i have nt been able to talk ot bill lately. he is so busy with the house and his business that i can t get details on anything.

the tank will have 2 vewing panels in the front only. the other 3 sides will be concrete.

I think that the tank will have more area for swimming, then the swimming pool, it looks more like a relaxing pool then swimming.

things may have changed a little with the cooling of the tank. im not for sure though. bill has run alot of extra plumbing through out the entire house. alot of it is run around the outside of the foundation. this will be a giant geo thermal cooling grid that bill can use to cool the tank with. the wate in the cooling grid will have a lower temp than the water in the pool. it will have an easer time cooling the tank that way. but im not for sure though. bill is super busy right now and he is hard to get ahlod of lately. once i find out for sure i willl post it here.

Busy? Busy building a house and paying for it? You're kidding?
YEAH, he's probably crazy busy and needs a drink.
buy him a few SPAZZ and get him to talk.
Then take his car for a little spin.

I believe he's having a heat exchanger in the pool and using the colder pool water to cool the tank. I'm not sure how well this would work but i guess we'll see

wow, this is going to be amazing, to say the least. I would hate to write that check to the electric company every month.

I have a question: has he discussed how he's going to make the rock formations? I mean, I find it hard to believe that he would just try to stack little pieces of live rock from bottom to top, unless he has a special order of boulder size pieces coming through.

I was thinking how I would tackle such a large project, and thought 'aragacrete arcs and shelves' to keep the real LR off the bottom (for ease of detritus removal by keeping the bottom open and keeping the LR off the bottom as much as possible). Or, perhaps all aragacrete, or some other artificial rock formations like public aquarium installations do it.

So what's Bill's plan?
