Barb fiting ?

Guess I'll have to order it. I need a few fittings anyway. Was hoping I could just pick one up from the hardware store but everything seems to be threaded. Funny how they don't have certain things like Y's for example they carry T's but yet no Y's. Other things you ask them for and they give you strange looks like what the h ll are making.

With barbs, you use a hose and hose clamp, but plastic hose clamps are a pita to get tight. If it's not subject to splash or submersion, you can use metal.

I know what you mean, that's why I just order online. The Lowes by me has some fittings in a different location other than plumbing. I was looking for a barb fitting and they weren't in the plumbing section but had them a few aisles away in the under ground sprinkler section.

It's will go from a manifold to my ATS 3/4" line. I don't think I would want metal in the sump area. What would you use? A push connect fitting?

I was at home depot one time and asked if they had a saddle valve with a push connect fitting on it. The guy couldn't understand after I explained to him what it was for as to why I would put it on the drain of a sink it was for my rodi waste water. He was totally confused.

SFish, my philosophy is that if it's underwater, it doesn't matter if it leaks, so long as it doesn't pop off. A proper hose barb that you may have to sweat on with a hair dryer will not pop off. If your sizes match well, you're good for most purposes.

Many of the hose clamps are all stainless and are fine for "damp" areas but I wouldn't use them underwater..
I just use nice 3/16" wide or so cable ties for underwater/barbs.

Sometimes homedepot has that stuff in a separate area from the regular PVC plumbing stuff. I found the fitting i needed in the fridge accessories, and I think they use barb fittings for hot tubs to so maybe check pool supplies.
