Barbouri Pregnancies

Does anyone happen to have experience dealing with H. Barbouri breeding/reproduction? My male Barbouri has been unusually sulky over the past week. He's always been more sedate than the female but he's taking it to a new level, e.g. hiding in the shadows, etc. He's eating like a champ and I don't see any signs of pain or illness. Also, I could swear his pouch is definitely protruding more than usual, and this is true all the time, not just in the morning when he's always puffed up his pouch while he chases the female around. My specific questions are as follows:

- In yall's experience, how often do Barbouri give birth each year? I've heard it's perhaps seasonal. I want to be able to have a little bit of warning before he gives birth. (Get a food culture going, prep a baby tank, etc). I also don't want to miss one pregnancy-opportunity if he's only going to give birth like twice a year.

- Does anyone have any pictures of pregnant Barbouri?
- Any tips/advice on preparing?

Thanks,
Lee
(hopefully Rayjay might have some species-specific wisdom)

Yes, and I also have dwarfs, erectus, reidi and kuda and they don't seem to produce fry very often or at all in the last couple of years.
With the barbs and angustus, I NEVER had fry from them, and now I can't even replace them because the Australian breeder who supplied the transhippers in Canada with them, has shut down.
I'm going to have to try putting only pairs in a tank to see if that will help as I seem to recall reading at some point, Dan Underwood commenting that the breeding might be better with only the breeding pair in a tank.
First, I'm trying just separation. I just placed an egg crate barrier across part of the kuda tank with one pair on one side of the barrier and the remainder on the other side.
I have erectus fry at the moment that came from someone who has a pair of erectus that I imported a year ago, and hers reproduce and mine don't. I'm assuming that possibly it's because she only has the pair there.
It's hard for me though, to put only ONE pair in a tank when it looks SO good having many more.
