bare bones sps, no fish grow-out tank

I am moving in the next 9 months so i don't want to set up a full reef tank but i was hoping to to set up a "frag only tank". What i was wanting to do is take a 55g tank and divide it into a smaller section for a frag rack with a 150w hqi maybe just 20inches wide and then have the rest of the tank used as a sump for extra water volume. I would paint the smaller section glass divider black to keep the light out of the rest of the tank. Then load up the sump portion with live rock and chaeto but no skimmer. I don't plan to have any fish so the bio-load would be nothing. Just plan on some water changes and maybe a few supplements. Would something like this work?

Could you put phyto and oyster feast in your tank a few times a week to bump up the nutrients?

9 months of growth is not worth moving frags to a different tank as all kinds of things can go wrong.. I would wait and just do it right.
