Bartlett Anthias missing after weekend trip

I had just got a pair of Barlett Anthias from Live Aquaria and for about a week they were doing great. Very active and eating well. I went away for the weekend(2.5 days without feed) and I come back and find one missing and the other one barley swimming around and not really eating. The next day he is missing too. Its been another 2 days and they still haven't come out. I assume they are dead. Any one know why they would be doing fine and then die after just 2.5 days of no food?

Anthias need to eat at least three times a day until the are almost adults. Did you get juvies? If they were, it could have been that or maybe they had some health issue that you did not detect.

Even with adults I would say twice a day minimum...

This is based of my observations as Anthias are a fish that I truly enjoy and keep a number of them. Just watch their actions throughout the day, they never stop moving, always in the current either trying to fight it to stay in one spot or zipping around, VERY active. With that comes a high metabolism..

I currently have 9 anthias in a 220g tank and I am amazed at how much they can eat.

Twice a day minimum on a regular basis. not eating for 2 days is not going to kill them though if they were that large. Something else is wrong.

i have 2 clownfish yellow tang blue tang pajama cardinal royal gramma 3 blue green chromis 2fire fish. tank has been running for 3 months. havnet not lost any other fish. its just so weird that they were doing great before i left and i come back after 2.5 days of not feeding and one is missing and other seems weak and then goes missing. obviously that would be why i think they died but everyone is telling me 2.5 days isnt enough to kill them. they were 2-3 inches in size

2 1/2 days without food won't kill any fish. They all go at least this long at various times during the collection/shipping process. Adult Anthias can do fairly well fed twice a day; but I think there is a increase in activity level (it could just be me) when they are fed more often. I give my all my Anthias extra feedings of Cyclops-Eeze and similar size foods. Of course, other fish get some, but the anthias get the bulk of it.
