Need some base rock and really do not want to pay Tong's kinda prices, $6.99 a pound, get real!!! Anyway help in the right direction would be great, thanx.

Hey thanks for the heads up on location's that might have some base rock I really need some in-order to finish my new tank. The deal is I want to make some caves as well as shelfs to add to my live rock that I already have. To bad Tonga put the brakes on collecting those huge Tonga branches that use to be everywhere back in the day, those chunks of rock had unlimited options for making nice rock work in a persons tank.

I have like 40 pounds why alot of place do not have rock is both Tonga and Fiji have shut down reef rock exportation for for the rest of the year this started in september

coral oasis has tonga braches

I was going to go there today but spent most of the weekend on tank, will go to coral oasis tomorrow for at least a couple of chunks. At those prices though I can just see it now..."Hey check out my $900 Tonga branch with a $100 Enchino frag placed on it"

Let me know if you dont find any I can get some for you. I like Coral Oasis alot but I can get you better prices if I need to help. But talk to Ben let him know that Gabriel sent you. That way you get a better deal.

i have 2 big pieces that used to be live rock..now they are base rock.
in west la..let me know if interested..$3/ lbs

Newbe questions - What is the difference between a tonga and a fuji branch? I purchased a bunch of rock from a guy who was taking down a large tank. Some of the rocks are large pieces consisting of many small branches. I also have one large single piece (30 inches long and about 33 pounds). It looks like it came from a tree! Instead of having many small branches on one rock, it is just one thick branch. Does anyone know what type of rock this is?
