Basement sump pump question

My homes sump pump is on its last leg. The pedestal style sump pump has had the float holder rust and I replaced that with a coat hanger and a J hook all ziptied together. Now the float switch on the top is going so it is time to replace the whole unit. I dump all of my water change water down the drain into this sump pump. I have noticed there are cast iron and stainless sump pumps available. In regards to saltwater fish tanks, should I go with the stainless or cast iron? Or does it really matter what I get? My unit does not run very often as I am not in a high water area so my basement stays dry except for evaporation from the fish tank.

You'll pay a premium for stainless. If you follow the water change water with a few gallons of tap you can rinse the pump out to help prevent corrosion. I used my sump pit for years and never had an issue that way.
