Basic 6105 Questions for 60 Gallon Cube

Hello,

Just bought a 6105; have an Apex that I will use to control the pump.

Aquarium is a 60 gallon cube (24") with overflow in the back left corner. 70 lbs of live rock that is maybe 3" away from the glass and is 24" tall.

  1. With the size aquarium I'm assuming the 12v jumper would be sufficient for flow, is that correct?
  2. Is there a preferred location for the pump? Looking at the video on the Tunze web site the pump appears to be close to the top and the flow slightly point toward the surface.
  3. Why would I use the wide flow adapter?
  4. Any interesting Apex programming suggestions for this size aquarium?
Thanks for you support,

Tom

1) Yes and even then it may need to be turned down using the controller, it is a lot of pump for a 60 gallon cube.

2) Generally a back corner aimed diagonally across the tank about 6-8" from the surface and aimed slightly upward but this is not carved in stone and is largely a trial and error process.

3) The flow will be more diffuse and gentle, wider with a shorter reach. The small tank will somewhat reduce the usefulness as the glass itself will channel the flow, but it may be a useful way to further reduce the velocity of the flow.

4) I have never used an Apex or any 3rd party controller. I would ask end users or possibly in the Apex forum.
