basket star

HUNGER

In Memoriam
has any one have one or had one how easy are they to keep was thinking about getting one but want to know the specs on them

Impossible to keep for the average hobbyist. They need a lot of food and usually wither away and die in a few months.

Impossible? They're not impossible at all. I know people who have kept them. Assuming you're actually talking about basket stars (not feather stars, crinoids), they just need nightly feeding with a meaty food, such as mysis or krill. In that sense, they aren't any more difficult than fish. The real problem with them, however, is the fact that most of them get HUGE, like 3-4 feet in diameter.

i have a 150 and its overflows on one side was thinking about putting him in there so he could get the most flow by him and the food will go to him

You will want to target feed him. Don't rely on him just catching whatever might be floating by in the water column. Also, a 150 will eventually be too small. I don't know how fast they grow, supposedly pretty slowly.

ok on target feeding mysis or krill.
what about lighting i heard that they dont need it because they come out at night

Basket stars are very attractive which weighs from 11lbs upto 5kgs...
