Batfish Tank Size

I was wondering what tank size would be suitable for a Platax pinnatus, I know my 130 will be too small but when I upgrade my tank I would like to add one.

You'd be looking at something on the order of 300 gals. BTW, just in case you haven't looked, the adult finnage and coloration is nothing like the pretty black and red of the juvies (just in case you didn't know).

Wow are they different from juvenile to adult.

Yes. Another thing...This fish is considered expert only. Most don't survive for long in captivity.

Ok thanks, yeah as they go on they turn to a grey colour. I read they can be finicky eaters and difficult to acclimatise, but I though as they had been bred in captivity I would give it a go. If I do decide to add one it won't be for a long time yet. Thanks for your replies.

Batfish are also extremely fast growers. I had an orbic that I swear you could see the difference in size on a daily basis.

I agree with the above - Pinnatus are beautiful juveniles, but not so much as adults, and are notoriously difficult to keep.
