Batfish??

Putty

I picked this guy up on Saturday. He's been eating pretty good on Spectrum, Mysis and Formula 2. Not picky at all. Anyone had a lot of experience with these?

You might want to get him a Robin Fish... and then video tape his adventures in the Bat Submarine. Also when it gets to be like 5 feet across you can tie a rope to it and go swimming...

Seriously cool fish. Better left in the sea. Inquire about donating him to a local aquarium when he outgrows your tank.

Yeah, my kid pointed it out and had to have it. No research done until today when I got to work. No excuse, but I understand. Thanks.

The Orbiculate Batfish is also called the Round Batfish, Orbic Platax and the Orbic Batfish. A round body of reddish brown and large round fins contribute to this fish's commanding presence. It can potentially grow to an adult size of 22 inches, measuring from the tip of the dorsal to the tip of the anal fin.

It is peaceful and hardy when provided with a deep tank of at least 180 gallons and plenty of unobstructed room to swim. Not a good reef dweller, it will eat many types of sessile invertebrates including corals and anemones. As with all Batfish, the Orbiculate is highly susceptible to ich so I hope it was quarantined.

not good tank mates for fin nippers like puffers/triggers, can be spooked easily by fast moving tang/large angels and prefer subdued lighting...grow fast, out eat 3 pigs they grow huge in all directions disclaimer this is based upon one experience,(lost mine..after 2 years due to equipment issue*lost entire tank* )
