Battery backup alternatives to Ecotec

Is there any alternatives to the battery backup besides the Ecotech battery backup to backup your pumps.

That isn't a good alternative. If you have ecotech pumps get the actual backup. A ups will last for a few minutes compared to many hours on the ecotech backup.

As per a thread in the UK forum I am using a modified twin spot emergency lighting unit as a backup for my 2 maxspect gyres and advanced controller. Works a treat and cost much less than the ecotech battery. Can expand it cheaply by adding a second unit or individual batteries. All I had to do was disconnect the 2 LED lights, connect a wire with the DC jack (I just used the wire and jack from one of my old controllers) and connect a power wire and plug.

I test mine a few times a year and it lasts over an hour... I have a small one of these running the modem and router, and a larger one running the vortech and apex brain.
