Battery Backup

I have been looking at setting a battery backup to run 1 powerhead, nitrate reactor pump and my fuge pump, 50 watts total. Does any one know how to figure out how long it will run those 50 watts if the backup is rated at 560W / 900VA? Thanks

I've been looking into UPS also. The manufacturer usually provide specs on the estimated run time vs. load for a given model. I believe that the rated specs are based on computer power supplies with a power factor of ~60%, where your pumps might have a power factor closer to 1 (more efficient).

Just a guess but I would say around 3 hours of run time based on what you posted.

Thank you for the info. The estimated time on the specs was 105 minutes, but I assumed that to be at the rated load of 560W?

It would only last a few minutes at full load. The best way to find out the run time at your load is to contact the manufacturer if they don't publish this info.

On the APC website (for example) you choose a load it then shows you the run time for each of their UPS models at that load.
