BB Demons

Like I mentioned I don't have BB, but I do have several caps that grow very fast. I haven't noticed a growth difference from up high or low but do notice color difference (Green w/ purp rim caps).

I don't have a ton of flow in my tank either and they grow extremely fast. Perhaps too much flow is the hinderance and the coral needs to adjust.

My flow is a Panworld 900 gph return, seio 1100 and seio 1500 in my 180.

I sometimes wonder if corals need to ajdust coming from a non chaotic holy hell of flow environment. Now if they come directly from the ocean, they would do fine I would imagine, but from others tanks or from the LFS, the flow just might not be the same. Perhaps that is why it is taking longer for them to grow.

Perhaps they also use phosphate or some other nutrient in the water that is lacking from you guys clean tanks.

Just a few thoughts.

You mention the coloration of the caps depends on high or low positioning in the aquarium. Can you elaborate?

My orange cap gets fluorescent pink rimmed and a more metallic look if it's up higher.

I too have found they don't like real high flow, they seem to do better in "nooks" in the rocks.

I can't wait to see my caps, which already have great PE, with the high, fairly laminar flow, of a wavebox. Should be beautiful.
