BC 29 Serpent Star Back Chamber Help

Hi All, I purchased a serpent starfish about 2 months ago...saw him hiding under rock for the first week or so, then he vanished for 6-7 weeks. Figured he died. Today, when feeding, I saw one of his tentacles stick out from the back slats that lead to intake chamber!!! WTH? :) What is the best way to get him out? I am a relative newbie to the hobby, so any help would be appreciated.

Update: He was under the false bottom in that compartment. I knocked that loose, pulled out the little guy and put him in the display area. Guess what? He is now trying to get back to his spot again.

if he can get in by himself, he can get out. must be something about that compartment that he likes. i'd just leave him be and let him go back and forth by choice. i had a bc29 with a serpent star that did the very same thing.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, within 15 mins, he was back in chamber 1. Amazing. Guess I have a responsibility to leave him there now.

Just think of him as a double-secret ninja clean up crew member. He's obviously eating something that would otherwise be settling in that compartment and breaking down in your system. So no need to worry about dead spots in there.

Here he is immediately trying to get back to his spot...half way in the slits

And here he is safely back in his spot in chamber 1 within 15 minutes of me putting him in the display section.

He's probably feeding off that gunk in the bottom. He'll come out if you offer him something meaty, but you should probably leave him alone. He knows what's best for him.
