I received my inner and Outer boxes from the company I ordered them from.

Unfortunately my tank only had a 2" bulkhead hole. I'm not sure of how much water flow I'll get through it.

It also has a 3" brace around the entire top. I had to remove the teeth on the inner box so that I can reach my hand in to tighten down the nut on the bulkhead.

The inner box is supposed to be good up to 1500GPH. This is on a 120 Gallon tank.

Right now I have the siphon on the left, the emergency in the middle and the open drain on the right. The hole on the right won't clear the 2" bulkhead for the closed loop return, so I'm thinking I might end up putting the emergency drain on the far right. This would allow me to run straight pipes for the other two and two 45's on the emergency drain to clear the bulkhead.

We'll see what happens when I actually get the stand finished and start testing.

One quick question. I have an inner box, tank wall, and outer box... where should I put the gaskets?

Right now I have it:

nut->inner box->gasket->tank->outer box->gasket->bulkhead

In general, you want the flange part of a bulkhead on the water side.
But more important is that you have the gasket in the water side, directly on the glass.
So bulkhead->inner box->gasket->tank->outer box->gasket-> nut.
Looking at your pics, that might cause you a lot of work. IMO, if it ain't leaking, leave it alone.

No, that's incorrect. The orientation of the bulkhead is irrelevent.

You need the gasket on the FLANGE side of the bulkhead. Otherwise the water will wick between the nut and the threads, bypassing the gasket on the nut.

OP: It should be Bulkhead flange -> gasket -> External box -> gasket -> tank. Sealing the inner box to the inside of the glass wouldn't hurt but it's not required to seal the entire setup.

If you don't believe either of us, trace where the water can go and see if it can escape anywhere. If there isn't a gasket between two pieces of plastic/glass it can escape.

HTH,

Thanks guys. Once I can test, I'll fill it up and see how it does. I'll keep adding gaskets until it stops leaking.
