Bearings go bad if stream is kept dry?

I was told that if a stream was removed from a tank and allowed to dry, the bearings would go bad and need to be replaced? Is this true? Due to the hurricanes I had to take my tank down and the streams have been sitting dry for ~2months now. It will be another couple months before the tank is back up and running. What should I do?

You just need to clean them, they don't go bad but the debris and salt deposits can lock the pieces together so the pump will be noisy or have trouble starting. Make sure all the components are clean.
