Beautiful Acro's

I went into johns last night and john had some gorgeous pieces in. I know he had a super man that was about 4 inches high and 2 inches wide.

He had another piece that looks like a superman, but the color is reversed.

I know some of you colored stick folks would love it.

You do know I have a little "problem" when it comes to the colored sticks........

Man, now I have to go up to Roseville....and I hate I-80!!!!!!

Thanks again Edwin.......You just cost me alot of money!!!!....:mad2:

But seriously, yeah I got a piece of most of em......the Jacqueliese, and two others that I can't remember off the top of my head, maybe John can chime in and remind me.......the Superman Monti.....and a piece of the one you were refering to possibly was the rainbow monti.........

Got the stuff to do my rock arrangement also and a wet dry vac to clean the sump and get the rest of the sand out from now on. Yipee...

LOL your very welcome..... LOL

Hey if you can post some pictures so I can see which ones you got.

I was so tempted to get a superman, but I dont think im ready for sps of that caliber.

I picked up a frag of that fuzzy pink acro on Tuesday. I prefer the acros with the good (fuzzy) polyp extension. At least they look like they're doing something. I still have to mount it. I figure I'll get three small mounted pieces out of it.

I think that one Brian was a milli or prostrata

Oh and BTW got some really cool rock recently, that has been out of a tank for over a year and shouldn't cause any problems that has cool shapes and a masonry bit with some acrylic rod.......next stop rock rescape

Doug

>was a milli

I think you're right. I never forget a face and I never remember a name :) Same with voices. Bit if an idiot-savant that way. Or maybe just an idiot :)

>a masonry bit with some acrylic rod
It's already been drilled or you're going to drill it?

I love doing the rockwork. I definately get why the Japanese get into their stone gardens. From what I've seen, they use that skill in their tanks too.

You probably already know this. Cutting the rocks that will be on the bottom in half with a masonary blade in a chop makes for a very stable base. You can even glue them down with silicon glue. This makes it looks like the bottom rocks go much deeper into the sand then they do. Very natural looking. On the down side, the biggest rock diameter most chop saws can handle in a single cut (aka smooth bottom) is 6".

BTW - I used Delryn (phonetic) rod to peg my rockwork. Very similar to Teflon. Not as brittle as acrylic. Slippery like Teflon. Coralline algae does grow on it. Tap plastics has it for a buck or two a foot. Lots of diameters. If you use a chop saw to cut either type of rod wear full battle gear. The pieces will go flying.

Delron (sp), I have used at work for dies intead of Aluminum in stamping processes.....its sort of self lubricating like teflon....good stuff.

I got some of that rod from Tap (1/2" rod, a masonry bit, holdfast).........I have three mongo sized rocks I am going to use as "feet" like a bridge and make an island in one corner, bridge it to the other "island" and have a third island.....the design will probably evolve as they always do, but I am going to pin them and get some cool rockstructure hopefully. I have a couple of pieces that are monolithic and want to try to get a valley thing going too, mabe the monmumet valley look?......hopefully a little bit of everything.....but perhaps the best thing is, by experimenting with SPS placement lately, I don't need to go up that high due to my 250's over a 75 and in fact have been frying them a little lately. So that will lead to stability. and more realestate.......but it will probably all change as I get started.

I agree though, rockwork is one of the most or least creative things one can do with thier tank.

Flow patterns, shows how nerdy I am, are something else I spend a lot of time with, esp. with SPS.

Speaking of DIY, I have a design in my head that I got from DarkDevils tank,(my Senior project team member),............I can design it on 3D CAD, perrhaps we should get together and build it to raffle it off to a MARS member?....I don't really have room for another tank,(much less build one), but have a great idea for a DIY edgeless to build for fun.

Cool, what is it? Skimmer, calcium reactor, death star ;)
> have three mongo sized rocks
You might consider putting the big stuff on spires.

>perhaps we should get together and build it to raffle it off
You're on :D

I'm really wishing we'd made a few more reactors this last time. Next time I'm ordering double the parts and making double what is needed.

Good that you like those 3 mongo sized rock, they were my show piece before, each cost range from $70-$90. at least they are put to good use now. oh and thanks for the frags, they all polyped up, now I need to move the lights down and blast them with the photons.

I may need to visit Your Reef for some more frags, hehe stock it up!

I already had the two.....the last large one I got from you.....but yeah they will be put to good use, thanks again....

That was a Becker Tort right?.....not the Bennett?

Brian: Edgeless tank with french drains with perhaps some sea grass as decrative and a denitrator

When you mean spires......looking like a lollypop with a stick and a large rock on top? Or like an antenna jutting up?

Thinking about starting it later on.......

you can call that whatever tort you want :) and also I will give you another frag I recently got, and see if you can make it color up :) u know which one I am talking about... :D
