Beginner Clown Breeder

Hey,

I have kept a 29G full on reef for about a year now and I want to try my luck at breeding clowns. I will be looking for a pair or obtaining a pair, mated pair would be even better. I have setup a 20G long and I am cycling it now... any suggestions for powerheads, filters (canister, hang-on back, etc??), lighting, and what species of clown I should try? Should I buy tank raised or wild? Should I buy both from different sources? Any suggestions would greatly help my cause.

I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada so mated pairs are hard to find.

Thanks in advance, PM me with any good details.. Just want to do it for fun.

Matt

be prepared to have hundreds of clowns to die on your behalf and be ready to spend WAY more money than you thought possible
also make sure you have no life cause it will consist of feeding and maintaining the numuruos tanks that come with breeding clowns.

im not trying to scare you off with all the downsides as i dont even breed yet but ive been asking a ton of questions and reading a lot of books and anything else i can do

first off one tank isnt going to do it
you need AT LEAST 3 tanks

filtration has a couple options
1)central filtration-a sump that is for all the tanks
2)sponge filters-a sponge filter in each tank
3)consistant water changes(i do not reccommend this )

occelaris i heard are easyest to breed and grow out

well what i meant was i dont reccocmend having consistant water changes be your ONLY way of filtration

i understand that with out waterchanges your fish are dead

If you're just going to do it for fun and the thrill of seeing if you can do it, then one tank at a time is more than sufficient. Just don't feel guilty about the other 12 hatches becoming high protien fish food.
