Beginner luck with giagantae anemone

Well I know how to Sps but clueless about giagantae anemone. Recently I bought a nice green color and put it in the tank. The nem look healthy and tight mouth, sticky to the touch. After a few days start shrinking a little so I ask my fishing buddy Tony aka Monkie to help and he deliveref a 10g tank with some Cipro what a guy . I follow his direction and start treatment for the nem. Well today is the third day and this morning to my surprise I stead of dead anemone I have 2 hahaha yeah baby beginner luck.......

It's rather rare in captivity, but I found research papers mentioning that it happens in the wild. I'm not sure all giganteas split. Observations on magnifica and BTA in the wild point to the possibility that there are strains of these anemones that form clones (=split) while others reproduce strictly sexual.
So this may not be just luck that the anemone split in captivity, but also being lucky to have gotten a specimen from a strain that reproduces by forming clones. It opens the possibility to one day reproduce giganteas in captivity just like BTAs.

If they split again or you ever want to get rid of one, I would definitely be interested.

Also you should repost this in the Anemones and Clownfish forum as this is of general interest and quite newsworthy.
In fact, you should even think about writing an article about this for a reef aquarium magazine.

People have chop them in 1/2 before and some live most did not.

I found giganteas to be among the hardier anemones. What makes them difficult is that they often come with infections that require Cipro treatment. But they generally respond well to Cipro treatments and once healthy all they really need is lots of light, decent flow, and plenty of oxygen in the water.
I personally find them a lot easier to keep than BTAs.

BTW, do you know when your gigantea came to the store. I found also a green one at a store here and they claim to have had it for 3 weeks. I wonder if they may have come from the same region.

Yeah mine look the same like yours. It's a good size and healthy when I bought it but it deflated after a few days then I started the treatment then this happened
