I bought this guy yesterday from a local SW supplier chain and concerned that I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
I've watched him in the store for about two weeks, determined him to be healthy and purchased him, a 2" yellow tang and a 1.25" Maroon Clown (all in separate display tanks) simultaneously.
I added them to my 55gal aquarium yesterday.

The beast is sticky as all getout and I have discovered moving him is a delicate chore. He got hold of two of my fingers and was attempting to grab more when I finally disengaged him.
Two fingers was disconcerting and dificult, The thought of my hand and disengagement was horrifying.

My concern here is that although I love the looks of him I'm concerned that he may not be the right purchase for me.
I've had difficulty keeping him in one location (hence the SS rod he's leaning against) since putting him in the tank yesterday.
He wondered across the tank last night and came in contact with an established GBTA.
Although it appears that no damage was incurred to the GBTA, the yellow tang was discovered early this morning, DOA 6" away from him.
I have yet to find the Maroon Clown.

I'm reluctantly considering returning him for a $50.00 credit for other stock that won't destroy each other.

Anybody have any advice for me on this sticky issue?

It appears that he is now beginning to cling to the rock.

1. your lighting isn't good enough
2. anemones move on their own, you can't stop that. They're going to move to the location in the tank that they think best suites them.

Good news: Sounds like it's healthy from your discription of how sticky it is. Ok now the bad news. To start anemones of any kind really need to have a tank of at least 6 months old to stand much of a chance at all. But they can be kept in younger tanks with a lot of care and attention. Next Haddoni are sand dwelling anemones and should not normally be climbing the rocks or glass. Your lighting concerns me as I do not believe it to be anywhere close to enough. Are you only running one bulb each of the full and blue? As for the fish If you cant find the maroon It's probably become dinner to the nem or hiding very well in your rocks. As for the tang they are very sinsitive fish so a number of things could have killed it not just the nen. What are your water parameters?

Sorry to say you are going to get variations of 'tank too new', 'tank too small', 'lighting not sufficient' advice. Haddoni is a tricky animal to keep even for an experienced reefer in an established tank - and it will eat your fish! I would see if you can return it.

I think you would be better served to return it. This species lives in a deep sand bed(6"), and requires strong lighting...among other things.

Also, if you manage to keep the anemone, it will outgrow your tank rather quickly. Assuming it has been correctly identified (the various species are quite similar, and often mis-identified), it can grow to 3 feet across.

If you like anemones, you should consider a BTA/Bubble Tip Anemone/E. Quadricolor. They are the easiest anemone to keep successfully, and much more fish-friendly.
