I was just thinking that you wouldn't be able to effectively "seal" off the area around a coral if it was on a "bumpy" rock ledge vs sitting on sand where you can push the bottle into the sand... Like you said, it prolly doesn't make a difference though...
Im assuming the cone is to keep unwanted shrimp from stealing the open brains food, but i geuss if you feed them before they should be fine although mine is a pig so i dont know about that.
Cool tank Ben. Ive been a lurker since you started the thread
Youve also made me want a smaller one too, even though I dont have the time to take care of it.
About the brain FWIW, Ive had an open brain for about 2 years now and have never fed it. I do run halides, idk if that make a difference. Its still colorful and growing. I dont feed my tank much but maybe some of the food drifts to the brain .
Chris
i just did the 2 litre bottle thing on my red brain 2 things happened.1 my coral banded shrimp was angry that he couldnt get in.2 my red brain ate in peace for the first time in months.
Thank you Ben for the thread.
Thank you melev for the tip.
Thanks guys. Chris, I love you avator! Great pic. My brain isn't looking good at all today. I'll post a pic later, I'm a bit worried. Trying to feed him wasn't successful at all.
WOW, I just went through the whole thread. Fantastic 5g tank. I have one sitting at home collecting dust and I was thinking of doing something with it. I had a problem deciding which lights to get, but now I have an idea. Very cool.
If that is the case, isn't actually more accurate to say that you owe us an update than Ben? After all, Ben updates this thread almost daily. Just scroll back a page or so to find out what the latest is.
