Bermuda Skimmers

Just installed a new bermuda skimmer on my 90 gallon reef tank. Unit was purchased from eco reef in pompano beach. Great service and extremely impressed with the skimmer. No fuss easy to install and its skimming green stuff I never thought existed. I was debating between a needlewheel pricey skimmer and this bermuda for $300.00 and I am extremely pleased with my choice as it seems its doing a great job and will require no maintenance except for cleaning the skimmer cup. Unit is sitting in the sump of my refugium. I have been in the hobby for ten years and I must say this rates for me at the top.

someone on RC is selling a B5C brand new for $280 shipped I was to get it for my 120G tank but I think it will be over kill :0) but I love the skimmer set a go ....

a skimmer is a big key to the success of your tank. i dont think its overkill

I used to have a 3C on my 40 net sps system and it produced well, FWIW. I was concerned about having too much skimmer (and not enough nutrients to create a stable foam head) but didn't have that problem.

another thumbs up for the bermuda skimmers. definitely under rated and under promoted as being one of the better skimmers out there.

i use a 5c on my 300g net ADJUSTED volume sps system with no problems whatsoever.

it truly is a set and forget skimmer. the only maintenance i do besides cleaning the skimmer pump is that i occasionally unclog the venturi by putting my finger over the air intake a few times.. though it says the venturi doesn't clog...there is a definite performance improvement when i do this about once every two weeks.

for the price, i dont think there is a skimmer close to its performance. the only skimmer i found to outskim the bermuda is a large aerofoamer...but the aerofoamer required a much larger pressure rated pump to perform properly.
