What's regarded as the best 150w D/E bulb in terms of PAR and colour and people's experiences?
Also any links to spectral anaylsis would be useful, cheers

Hard to get a straight answer on this one, I've been trying for a while to get the same info. Are you using MH only and what type of ballast?

Hmmmm

Hmmmm

I have heard a lot of great things about the Phoenix bulb. I will be using a modified Lumenarc Mini and a standard 150w Electronic Ballast...

I love the looks of the Radium, but the Iwasaki 50K is a great bulb, very bright! Also the Iwasaki Aqua2 will be coming out soon. If it is anywhere near the intensity of the 175 watt version, then it will be the king of the hill!

I may get the Pheonix bulbs, I can practically get two for the price of one AB 10k or G-man 14.5k

Being from England, the G-man bulbs arent too expensive but aren't regarded as too good. I've heard a lot of good about the Phoenix and I have relatives on holiday in the U.S so this is a great chance to get one of the Phoenix bulbs that arent available in the UK

The new DE Iwasaki 14000K is a 250 watt, their first 250 watt DE for the aquarium market.

The 50000K is my favorite 150 watt DE bulb but unfortunately, it does not have great par, atleast not in the 150 watt DE version. Not shabby for the color it imparts but PPFD only in the 30's on an electronic ballast and low 40's on an M81.

From EYE - Iwasaki

NEW BULBS:

150 watt DE
Product Description: MTD150AQUA2
Product Code: 56260
Color Temp (K): 20000
Initial Lumens: 8000

250 watt DE
Product Description: MTD250AQUA/14K
Product Code: 57753
Color Temp (K): 14000
Initial Lumens: 15000

I was told they would be available within 4 weeks. Some websites are taking pre-orders. I don't play that game. I just order from the big boys!

The Iwasaki Aqua2 150 watt DE is listed a 20000K, not the 50000K. Actual output of the new 20000K should be better than the 50000K but the 50000K is not a new bulb and does not have great par, again, atleast not in the DE version.

Some websites taking pre-orders may be taking them 4 weeks in advance on the 150 watt Aqua2 but some of them will have the new 250 watt 14000K this week. Icecap announced it a few days ago on their forum. I posted it a couple days before that on this one. The new 14000K is in some retailers hands or should be in the next few days. I expect to have a pair by next week. Coralreefecosystems . com is one of those sellers. The 250 watt DE is here.

I dont remember exact numbers but I done a lot of reading on the subject, the SPS that I have in the tank are growing nicely and my crocea clam looks healty .

What is the PAR of the Pheonix 150w 14k DE on an electronic ballast? Where did you find the numbers? Its not on Sanjays site.
It's not. Just use the #s from the Aquaconnect. They are the same bulb.

I'm gonna try the phoenix because a good number of you guys mentioned its good.

One guy liked the reeflux 12k........what is everyones thoughts on it? Any good?

Color is nice but not much par. Reeflux 10000K is supposed to have pretty decent par in the 150 watt.
Par on the Phoenix (Aquaconnect) 150 watt DE isnt great either. Nice white bulb with good par is the Aqualine 10000 but it's not blue.
Also, The Iwasaki 50000K . Better on a magnetic HQI ballast. Still only decent par but better than the Aquaconnect but again, only if you are running it on an M81 ballast. Nice color, real nice. A different blue, more of an actinic than a 470nm blue. The new Iwasaki aqua2 should have better par.
