was curious on this subject i have about 100 turbos ... but im getting some detritus..

running bare bottom

with lots of flow.

was thinking of ordering some blue legged hermits

You can have Nassarius snails in a BB tank. They can still hide in the rocks. But my wrasse collection eat them like oysters on the half shell.

Be careful with the cowrie, though.....I was thinking the same thing, but mine seems to want algae, and opt for eating corals when there isn't any.

My new tank is a 220 BB with a little more than 10Xper hour turnover through the sump(plus a few powerheads). I find that it's pretty easy to just vacuum out the detrius when doing my weekly waterchanges.

This is my first BB tank, and I put 150 snails, a couple emeralds, and a bunch of shrimp. The tank stays pretty clean, but the crap piles up after a while. I've positioned my returns so that it pushes everything into a pile in a back corner so it's easy to vacuum.

I'd add some hermits and a serpent star.

Rather than a cowrie you might try a fighting conch.

I'm a big believer in variety being important for a "cleanup crew."

I'm not sure a BB tank is a good place for a conch. Is it?

Yeah, they like to bury themselves but like the nassarius and wrasses who also bury themselves they still get by just fine in bare bottom tanks.

I would avoid blue legged hermits if you have snails. They tend to be more aggressive than say, scarlet or mexican red legged.
