Hi me and my fiance will be takiing our honeymoon on a cruise this june and we want to do some scuba diving while we are on excursions but since we will want to do other things while are on our cruise we want to know where the best places to dive we are going to Grand Cayman island, Isla Roatan, Belize, Cozumel I know all offer great diving but since I wanna explore other stuff want to get some opinions of where to dive at. and also should I book with the cruise or do it own my
Thanks

All of those sites have excellent diving, so if you have other activities, plan those and go diving anywhere left on you schedule. Sticking with the cruise excursion may be a few more bucks and not go to the 'best' sites, but you are guaranteed you will not miss the boats departure.

When we went to Hawaii we booked all our excursions privately. But in the Caribbean you are mostly in third world type countries. It depends how safe you feel. We booked our snorkel excursion at Cozumel from our cruise ship and didn't regret it a bit. Jacques Cousteau called this one of the five best dive sites in the world. You might also want to take the Nautilus Submarine excursion. We went 108 feet below the surface. Be forewarned, at that depth everything is blue, there are no fantastic colours but the experience is wonderful. On Grand Cayman you could try swimmig with the Stingrays. This is the most popular excursion in all the Caribbean. If you get the chance try Sea Trekking. You put on a dive helmet and walk around on the ocean bottom. Really cool. I hope this helps.

Personally, if I were going on that cruise, I would dive Cozumel. Most of your stops have good diving, so I would place my decision on what else there is to do in the area. For me, Cozumel would be the most boring stop, at least on land. There is one decent park, but mostly just touristy shopping there.

Hahahahahaaaa...

Yeah. :)

"My fiance and I will be taking our honeymoon on a cruise..." You wouldn't say, "Me is taking my honeymoon on a cruise," so why would you say, "Me and my fiance are taking our honeymoon on a cruise?" You'd say, "I am taking my honeymoon on a cruise," so "I" is the correct pronoun, not "me."

...And it's always more polite to mention the other person first. That's why it's better to say, "My fiance and I will be taking our honeymoon on a cruise," not, "I and my fiance will be taking our honeymoon on a cruise."

I wonder what third world "type" countries are like. Perhaps you could elaborate.

Here ya go:

I loved Grand Cayman.

There is a place called the cracked conch that has a 1 mile vertical wall close to shore.

The Grand Marriott hotel has an artificial reef right behind the hotel that had alot of sealife around it and a cabana bar. I'll stay there again next time i go there. I guess it will depend how much time you have on the island as to where you can go.

SeaJayInSC..thanks for posting the link. It should help to point out that I didn't coin the phrase.

Mounda, that is a baited question, especially since you have no identifiers telling us where you are from. But I will elaborate...but just a bit. My meaning of third world "type" countries was countries with underdevelopped economies. Many Caribbean countries fit into that definition, and that is all/what I meant. I hope that satisfies your curiosity as I do not want to hijack this thread and turn it into something other than what it was intended to be.

Already hijacking it, ALL Caribbean countries are third-world countries (except areas that belong to developed countries like the USVI and the BVI of course). Actually, the only "developed" countries in the Americas are the US of A and Canada.

Back to the question at hand, as someone else already said, diving is excellent in all of those locations, so I would just pick the one with the most boring land-based activities to dive in.

I say grand caymons i have been to all the places you mention. Belize was nice saw a pod of dolphins. But my fav site i have been to is in grand caymons called orange peel. great reef formations and lots of swim thru spots on the reef.
i always booked my dive trips thru the cruise line and been please. they pick you up most of the time right on the peir. and the ship WILL wait for you if you run late with them.
