Best "Exotic" Reef Fish for Nano?

When I say exotic I mean not your typical run of the mill nano fishes such as the six line wrasse, royal gramma, etc. I am looking for the "Gems" of nano reef fishes, obscure stuff that hardcore nano reefers keep, certain gobies, wrasses, dottybacks, pygm angles, or whatever...The Wrought Iron Buttlerfly of the nano so to speak ;) List em if you have idea's..Thanks!

Ahhh the Candy Basslet! now that is a gorgeous fish! you can close the thread I'm done! LOL j/k

I know they fetch a pretty penny on live aquaria right?

Yes they are the creme' de la creme' of the basslets. I am looking into one for my Elos System.

But alas, they are a $900 fish. And there are many angels that are higher in the "need" list than this little Lio.

I have a Flaming prawn goby. Gorgeous little fish, but if you want to see your fish don't get this little devil. She treats me with a sighting about once a week. I do work 40 hours plus though so maybe she is around I'm just not here to enjoy more sightings. I got her on sale at Blue Zoo Aquatics. She wasn't unreasonable at $74.00. I am going to try to post a picture, not good with tech.

Yes, the ideal nano fish. they are not inexpensive, but they are gorgeous. But on a more moderate note, some of the prawn goby/pistol shrimp pairs are spectacular.

Golden Assessor.

One of my favorite "little" fish.

another good suggestion! keep em coming! I love the variety to choose from!

I assume most basslets are deep water fishes and don't like a lot of flow?

Well, my candy basslet likes cave and overhangs; normally you would not get much flow there. But, once he has been socially acclimated, comes out hunting/begging for food.

Sweet! Thanks Steve! I would love to get my hands on one!

ok, my tiny pea brain can't figure out how to post picture of Spike in this thread. You can go to my gallery and see her.

Here is a list of some of my favorite "nano" fish

Nemateleotris helfrichi
liopropoma multilineatum
Liopropoma rubre
Liopropoma carmabi
Pseudochromis moorei
Assessor macneilli
Wetmorella nigropinnata
Centropyge acanthops

It really all just comes down to what you like, and what will work with your system.
And remember that "nano" is a very broad term.
