Best flow setting on ecotech mp's for SPS

Hello all,

I just purchased a few EcoTech Mp pumps again for my 65 Red Sea Max. I have one MP40 and one MP10 on opposite ends. I want to have a more dominant SPS tank. I was reading the different flows and on my last frag tank ran the reef crest mode. I was reading about the nutrient transport mode and felt that could be a good option, what is recommended?

Also, is there any way to set night time more automatically?

There have been a dozen very similar questions you could check out. And now there will another "this works best in my tank" with no scientific data behind it. Giving you a mostly useless answer.

The NTM mode work best with 2 or more MP.
It's the perfect mode for SPS beside the noise from them.

I suggest the reef crest mode all the time and just take ntm mode once a day about 30mins.

Anyway,try your best way.

Hello all,

When you initiate night mode, it automatically goes into night mode every night thereafter, at the same time, until you tell it to stop.

Doesn't get much more automatic than automatic.

So when I tell it to stop the next morning, it will run that same period from start to end each night from then on?

Thanks

You don't tell it to stop. It runs for 10 hours (i think) and stops on its own. Just turn it on at the time you want it to start at night and walk away. It'll resume normal operation automatically the next morning.

Yeah u can tweak how long 'night is' and how mic it ramps down based on % to what you want - I would slave the drivers big guy leading the way and run nutrion transport mode - it's my fav - it's is kind of noisy but works great -

Sounds good in principle. But it your Vortech controller ever loses power - even for a second - you have to go through the night mode initiation PITA all over again - which is why I got a WMX module for my Apex so that I don't have to reset the Vortech after power hicups.

pressing 2 buttons for a few seconds is a PITA?

Wanna trade lives? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Looking up in the manual which two buttons to press, and being there at the exact time that it needs to be done. The latter is the larger issue for those without ample free time in the evenings.

And what I just posted PRESUMES you even had a reason to know that the Vortech needed to be reset. If you don't get to look at your tank at night, or you don't have some other appliance blinking (like the clock on a microwave), you could go months without knowing the Vortech was not working the way you set it up to work.

Good ole' night mode... gotta love it.

I don't use night mode :eek2::eek2::eek2:

I have a MP40 and hydor evo 1400. the EVO 1400 is always on since its not controllable, and the MP40 I leave on NTM most of the time, but also like Tidal Swell Mode. Reef crest my corals liked, but I get cyano outbreaks becuase there isnt enough flow most of the time so I stopped using it.

I dont use night mode
