I have been farming spme bta's and was wondering what u guys think is the best food/size/frequency for optimum growth. I try to feed once a day with mysis shrimp cut up into 1/4" pieces or smaller.

Silversides are good. My fish chomp Mysis so fast it's not funny. But actually give silverside pieces to the nem. They think it is Nem food. Like 1/4 inch pieces. Or maybe the chunks are too big for the fish. Hard to tell. Like every other day.

I fed a silverside to my lta the other day and it tripled in size after a few hours. But has since went back to normal. I take that as a good sign.

I use prime reef myself. Some of them seem a little picky. :D

My RTBA gets some Rods Food that my B/W clown feeds it and then a 1/4" piece of silverside every couple of days.

I have noticed that the nem actually looks better when it is not feeding as much. You see less of the body and the tentacles look more plump when I let a couple days go by without feeding.

this helps.

I use to feed silversides years ago. perhaps I should start up again. do u guys take a silver side and cut it into many smaller 1/4" pieces and feed multiple pieces at once? also what is "nem"?

thanks
greg

I feed mine shrimp or silversides and it seems to do ok. From what I hear from some is that it is'nt really even necessary to feed the nem that often or even if at all. Nems live and get their nutrients from the particles in the water and the photosynthesis it needs from the lights. I could be wrong, I personally think that it is just cool to watch them eat.

feed mine silversides usually whole silversides ..its pretty big now though to (probably about11"-13" accross). think it eats anthias's as well SHRUG!(anthias was hosting one night then gone the next ugh oh)....generally i feed every 3-4days or so. to give a general idea though how big the clown is about 3.5"-4.0"" now generally i would suggest half a silverside every 3-4days for normal sized nems

Personally, I would feed it at least a few different things. Switch from silversides, to raw shrimp, to clam, to rod's food, etc.

I feed my GBTA a finely chopped mixture of clam, squid, shrimp, tuna, scallop, and whatever other seafood I can get at the grocery store at the time. I chop a whole bunch up, and freeze it into 1/2" thick slabs. Then I break a chunk off, thaw it, and feed it to the anemone with a turkey baster. This is what I feed my sun coral as well.
