Best food for SPS in mixed reef?

Tried this in the Reef forum but no replies so maybe better luck here.

I have a 65H mixed reef. Some palys, zoas and shrooms around the base of 2 pillars. Frogspawn, duncan, candy, acans, rics around the middle.

Just started with SPS and have several monti caps, green slimer, green ORA birdsnest, pink birdsnest, and my first 2 acros doing very well at the top of the pillars.

Lighting is 2 x 175 Iwasaki 15ks and 2 x 95 UVL actinics.

about 2300 gph of flow mainly at the top of the tank including return and closed loop.

chiller, top-off with kalk reactor and dose 2 part.

Now my question: Everything looks really good but what can I feed that will benefit my SPS. I feed Mysis to the LPS and my LTA and Spectra A+ to my fish.

Thanks for any recomendations.

RogersReefFood- all that you need and npthing that you don't both your fish and corals will like it.

Got my Rogers Reef both the green and regular yesterday from Dr F/S....my fish in both tanks ATTACKED it even after they had their usual NLS pellets :uzi:

The tangs especially loved the green, but my normally shy cardinals in both tanks were out getting their share!

Acans and other brains put their feeders out in daylight too which is not normal in my tanks!

I use Roger's Reef too and the fish love it. My sps and lps will also have their polyps out when I start feeding. Between this fed once a day and a well stocked tank my corals look happy and healthy- great pe, colors, and growth.

Try oyster eggs, there is an insane amount of PE when you use it.

I 2 cubes, 1 in the morning and one in the evening.
There's also a large amount of growth from them too.

I think the right amount of fish works best for color. Other then than a little phyto plankton will go along way. Ive tried oyster feast and didnt notice any difference. Ive never tried any mixed food ( foods for fish and coral in the same cube) but I imagine it would work the same as fish poop. In the end its DOC you want to contrtol. Wether it be food, fish poop, or any other... look for your balance. I like to keep my tank on the absolute edge of low nutrient (almost pastel colors in coral) and feed as necesssary to keep colors popping. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for all the replys!

I have a pair of GSMs (5 in and 3 in), a small yellow tang and a yellow watchman goby in the tank. I feed pretty heavy and skim wet.

I have a 20L refugium that started out nice and nasty but has cleared up considerably in the last month. I test parameters but use the appearance of the refugium as a guide to nutrient level as much as anything. Dont want it too nasty but dont want it crystal clear either.

I'll get me some Rogers and see how it goes.

I like the hikari frozen rotifers, they are a good size and come in good condition mostly whole and not much liquid or juice to add excess nutrients to the water column.

why choose? Use both!

Roggers stays together. I'm cutting mine up because I have large fish that would eat an entire piece and it still stays together.

Rods "melts" and goes everywhere. For this reason I have always fed it about 10 min before the lights go out.

I totaly agree..I've got to run it through blender...prefer Rod's, but can't find it locally anymore

The reason why Rods food comes apart a lot quicker is they use more water in their food. Rogger's food uses less R/O water and that is why it is so dense. The Complete Blend Plus when add spirulina it also makes the food very dense too. If you like feeding your fishing using a feeding tube or pouring it in then add some tank water and let it thaw out. Takes a few minutes, use your fingers to break apart and then feed your fish. I personally like using Rogger's Food mesh to feed my fishes.
