Best heater controller?

I am not interested in Apex, ReefKeepers, etc..

I just need a reliable heater controller that can accept a 1,000w heater for a 600G system.

I am currently using the JBJ TrueTemp but its flakey.

What is the function to coat the probe??? I also heard to coat it with shrink rubber for electronics.

The probe on the ranco is not waterproof.

That's what I did. I crimped the end of some shrink wrap and sealed it that way.

Thanks for the replies.

Im just not sure I am comfortable using a piece of equipment in a way it was not designed for.

Having to modify the probe is not something I am comfortable doing. This is for a reef shop so if anything happened, i doubt the insurance company would be happy.

It's supported by Ranco and recommended by them. They will even install it which will make the insurance company happy. If there happens to be a fault in the application the blame can be placed on ETC

It's a temperature controller...how is that not what it's designed for?
